In late October 2012, the long summer season on the Jersey Shore was coming to an end. The weather had stayed mild, and visitors and summer residents were now heading home. For many, it would be the last time they saw the Jersey Shore as they knew it. In the sky, the moon was nearing its full phase, and a trio of weather systems was forming to produce Superstorm Sandy, an epic storm and the greatest natural disaster in the Jersey Shore's recorded history.
