Rudi Matt has a dream -- a dream to touch the sky. Rudi dreams of climbing to the summit of the Citadel, the highest mountain in Switzerland. Only one man dared approach the top, and that man died in the pursuit. He was Josef Matt, Rudi's father. Now Rudi yearns to complete the quest his father could not. Taking his father's red shirt and a humble staff, he steals away from his sleeping mother. Then he begins the climb upward toward the earth's most challenging peak. But before he can reach the top, he must conquer the forbidden Fortress, which yawns in the high reaches of the Citadel where his father met his end.
