Sixteen-year-old Penny Capelli has just moved to a small town to live with her aunt Stella when Penny's dog digs up a human skeleton in the backyard that is over twenty years old. Penny, her cousin Simon, and his friends investigate the mystery and try to learn the skeleton's identity. However, they quickly learn that their efforts could provoke the killer again.
