Mackenzie is determined to have a great time on the school field trip, but out in the woods everyone stops getting along and friendships are tested.

Mackenzie and her friends create a new online social networking site which creates some unforeseen problems, as she is also trying to figure out if she has a crush on one of her best friends, how to deal with the jealousy of one of her bandmates and her fears over her mother's pregnancy.

At the beginning of seventh grade, Mackenzie is worried--her best friend has moved to France, someone steals her diary, she alienates her two new friends, and it looks like she has lost her chance to win the Teen Sing contest.

Seventh-grader Mackenzie Blue, also known as Zee, deals with the stresses of school when her best friend moves away, somebody steals her diary, and she gets one chance to become a rock star, requiring the smart and talented girl to seek help from her crew of friends.
