After Hank the Cowdog, Head of Ranch Security, collects clues from the chickens and the cat that indicate that the sky will fall, he springs into action to keep the ranch safe.
When Slim is left to take care of the ranch and little Alfred, who has the measles, he gets sick himself and a freak blizzard sets in, so it is up Hank to try to keep things under control.
Hank the cowdog must protect the ranch from an orphaned raccoon with a bad case of "moonlight madness," an itch for trouble brought on by the light of the moon.
Hank and Drover fall asleep in the back of Slim's truck and wake up at the livestock show, but when Drover wanders off to go and visit with his mother, Hank scrambles to find his friend before Slim decides to head back to the ranch.
