Ryoma wants to lead his team to the Nationals and the quest begins when they play Fudomine, a group of belligerent players.

Ryoma Echizen, the Prince of Tennis, has enrolled at Seishun Academy, and some of the older students challenge him, but they are no match for his him. Against the rules, the captain allows seventh-grader Ryoma to enter the ranking matches for a chance to play in the upcoming city tournament.

In the first round of the National Tournament semifinals, Seishun is up against powerhouse Shitenhoji, with Shusuke facing Kuranosuke Shiraishi, Shitenhoji's captain who is rumored to play a flawless tennis game.
