Collects early Captain America adventures, originally published between 1964 and 1966, that were written by Stan Lee and primarily illustrated by Jack Kirby.

Bucky Barnes, now Captain America, is hard-pressed to find anyone to come to his defense when he is put on trial for crimes he committed as the Winter Soldier, a brainwashed, Russian assassin and saboteur, during the Cold War. Meanwhile, Master Man has helped the Red Skull's daughter, Sin, escape imprisonment and she has her own plans for her father's oldest enemy, Captain America.

Introduces Captain America and describes how he became a superhero.

Captain America tries to stop the Nazis from using anti-gravity aircraft behind enemy lines, is taken captive by the Nazis as his alter ego Steve Rogers, and fights Soviet super-spies.

After a top secret experiment transforms the sickly Steve Rogers into the powerful super-soldier known as Captain America, Steve must infiltrate the base of the evil HYDRA organization and take on the super-villain Red Skull.

Captain America is aided by Rick Jones in his efforts to rescue the Avengers, but after he becomes more aware of the history he has missed, Captain America is overwhelmed with guilt over the loss of his partner, Bucky.

While battling Prince Namor in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Avengers find World War II hero Captain America frozen in the ice and thaw him out. The Super Soldier helps them end Namor's bid for revenge over the ruin of Atlantis, and, eventually, joins the Avengers.
