Joseph, the thirteenth of his parent's thirteen children, receives warning from two mysterious strangers before his thirteenth birthday to be wary and is encouraged to embark on a quest to collect thirteen thirteens before midnight on his thirteenth birthday in order to avoid a terrible curse.
