In Bronze Age Britain, Drem must overcome the disability of a crippled arm in order to pass his tribe's test of manhood and become a warrior.

At the end of his three years in the Boys' House, Drem must kill his own wolf to prove his right to wear the warrior's scarlet and be accepted as a man in his tribe. But how can he do this when his spear arm is withered and useless?.
