Prior to appearing before a congressional committee, Major Norman Starr, attached to the National Security Council, spends a weekend reflecting on his situation and the long line of Americans from whom he is descended.
Major Starr is told that he will shortly be called before a congressional committee. He talks over the situation with his wife and a lawyer and begins to think back to the long line of Americans from whom he is descended.
