It is December 1944 at a way station in the Ardennes Forest. Survivors of an ASTPR squad (specially selected highscoring college army reservists), sick and frightened, face yet another nightmare.

While six American soldiers are working at an observation post near the German lines in 1944, they begin to receive strange gifts from the Germans, including a small Christmas tree, and as they figure out what the enemy is trying to tell them, they learn a great deal about themselves.

Set in the Ardennes Forest on a Christmas Eve during World War II, six GI's are establishing an observation post in an abandoned chateau close to German lines. They think they are in complete isolation but the Germans may not be as far away as they think.
