Nathaniel Fludd, beastologist

In 1928, when timid ten-year-old Nate learns that his parents have been lost at sea, he joins his father's cousin on a flight to Arabia where they must oversee the death and rebirth of the phoenix, thus beginning his training as a "beastologist.".

Beastologist-in-training Nathaniel Fludd and his Aunt Phil nurse a mysteriously ill unicorn, try to stop Obediah from taking the unicorn's horn, and finally get a solid lead on the whereabouts of Nathaniel's parents.

Nate happily returns to England with his Aunt Phil after beating the basilisk only to find that their home has been ransacked, but before he can determine if the mysterious man who is after the Book of Beasts is to blame, he and his aunt must make haste to the Welsh countryside to calm some unruly wyverns--giant dragons.

Ten-year-old Nate is sent to live with a family cousin, the world's last beastologist, after his parents are declared lost at sea, but danger mounts when he is brought on an expedition to the Arabian desert, gets lost, and must protect a newly hatched phoenix egg and rescue his guardian.

Beastologist Nate Fludd searches for the deadly Basilisk, and as he and his Aunt Phil try to solve the mystery of his parents' disappearance and keep the only copy of the "Fludd Book of Beasts" safe, they are also tasked with saving an entire Dhughani village from the poisonous gaze of the Basilisk.
