Canadian ninth grader Frankie Uccello, who is extremely normal beside the fact he has the ability to see the future in his dreams, has a premonition that his friend will be injured in a horse back riding accident, and relies on help from the introverted Maura-Lee to stop it from happening.

Kim sees a beautiful black horse from her school bus window and is excited by the prospect of having a horse nearby she can visit, but her search for the horse comes up empty, prompting the kids at school--who already gossip that Kim's house is haunted--to say it was a ghost horse, while the anticipated arrival of Kim's Gramma-Lou brings a new kind of trouble.
