Recounts the deeds of the individual members of the Fellowship of the Ring after being divided by an attack of orc-soldiers, following Frodo and his servant Samwise on their continuing quest to destroy the Ring of Power in the Mountain of Fire.
Bilbo Baggins, a respectable, well-to-do hobbit, lives comfortably in his hobbit-hole until the day the wandering wizard Gandalf chooses him to take part in an adventure from which he may never return.
The fellowship was scattered. Some were bracing hopelessly for war against the ancient evil of Saruman. Only Frodo and Sam were left to take the accursed Ring of Power to be destroyed in Mordor-the dark Kingdom where Sauron was supreme. Their guide was Gollum, deceiful and lust-filled, slave to the corruption of the Ring.
