Offers an account of two submarines during World War II in 1943 in the South Pacific Ocean. The USS Sculpin was attacked by a Japanese destroyer which subsequently picked up the American sailors. Weeks later the USS Sailfish came upon a Japanese aircraft carrier and did not know that their countrymen from the Sculpin were on board that carrier and trying to escape. Years earlier half the lives of a Sculpin crew were saved by the Sailfish but not this time.

Explores the efforts of the Japanese Navy during World War II and their clashes with the United States Navy, focusing on the use of Aichi M6A1 underwater aircraft carriers.
