Kidd, an artist, computer whiz, and professional criminal, teams up with his sometime partner/sometime lover LuEllen to find out what really happened to Jack Morrison, a colleague who was supposedly killed by a jittery security guard while raiding a company's files.
Con artists Kidd and Luellen target the small town of Longstreet, Mississippi, at the request of an African American rights activist, to get the mayor to resign, and their plan seems perfect until murder, scandal, and love get in the way.
