Max, Fang, and Nudge set out for Death Valley to save Angel, who has been kidnapped by a sinister scientist.

Having narrowly escaped the Erasers in New York City, the flock heads to Washington, D.C., to try to find out more about themselves. After they are approached and offered sanctuary by the FBI, they try going to school and living normal lives, but the Erasers catch up with them and send them on the run again.

Max and her flock escape the school after recovering Angel, who shares what she has learned about their true identities, but Erasers follow them to New York, where Max ponders her destiny.

Fang's blog highlights ITEX and their research, causing them to shut down, while Max goes to Antarctica to study the effects of global warming.
