In the age of the High Republic, the Republic, led by its two chancellors, works to unite worlds across the galaxy. But on the closely orbiting planets of Eiram and E'ronoh, tensions still run high, and a decade of escalating conflict now threatens to consume surrounding systems. The planets' royal families take one final attempt at peace by marrying their two heirs, but before lasting peace can be established, an assassination attempt targeting the couple leads to an all-out war. Jedi Knight Gella Nattai is sent to uncover the assassin's identity, while Chancellor Kyong appoints her son, Axel Greylark, to represent the Republic's interests in the investigation. Gella and Axel find themselves forced to work together to uncover the truth, and they soon discover a dangerous conspiracy.
