Inspector Ian Rutledge mystery

Ian Rutledge returns to his job at Scotland Yard after five years on the battlefield, keeping secret the fact that he is still suffering from shell shock, and almost immediately is sent to investigate the case of a murdered military officer in which the chief suspect is a much-decorated war hero.

Scotland Yard Inspector Ian Rutledge is called in to investigate two murders that don't seem to be connected. When a third murder and then a fouth occur, Ian remembers something he witnessed in the war that might give him the key to finding the killer, but it will bring back an episode that Ian has been trying to forget.
