Examines the role women played during the industrial revolution by relating the stories of Elizabeth Fry, Florence Nightingale, Sarah G. Bagley and Mother Jones.

Profiles five women who advocated on behalf of women's rights in the early twentieth century. Elizabeth Cady Stanton campaigned for women's rights, Susan B. Anthony voted despite the fact that it was illegal for women, Clementina Black organized a strike at a factory that paid women less than men, Carrie Chapman Catt traveled throughout the world to promote women's suffrage, and Emmeline Pankhurst petitioned for women's right to vote.

Profiles four different women who helped changed the lives of women in America during the 1960s. Betty Freidan protested women being judged by their appearance in the Miss America pageant, Ella Baker helped organize Freedom Schools for the teaching of African American history, Barbara Castle advocated for equal pay for women, and Mary Quant helped women dress for comfort rather than to appeal to men.

Tells the stories of four women who were intrumental in encouraging women to making the war effort work in America during World War II, including United States spy Anne-Marie Walters, machine operator Ruby Loftus, pilot Nancy Love, and nurse Red Harrington.
