Terror wood

Pursued by the Alcatraz guards, Erro and Zak take refuge in the Phantom Forest, a dark wood of giant trees and extremely dangerous beasts where they find it safer to travel on the tree branches and avoid the huge hungry rats below--until the tree branch they have landed on turns out to be an enormous dragon-like flying serpent who does not appreciate being ridden.

Beyond the farthest star

Zak Nine, his alien friend Erro, and another prisoner have found a small spacecraft and if they can dodge the missiles that the guards are firing after them perhaps they can finally escape from planet Alcatraz; but there is something wrong with the stars in front of them--they are not really stars at all, and now they find themselves confronted by Alcatraz's biggest secret.

Seven doors to death

On the edge of a golden lake, fugitives Zak Nine and his Quom friend Erro discover an ancient golden building and stumble into a room with eight sides and eight doors, seven of which are traps which will kill, and one of which will lead to a way out--and it is up to Zak's experience with games to figure out which is the safe door before this octagon kills them.

Diamonds of doom

Traveling at night, Zak and Erro follow a figure into a cave and discover a number of other escapees are hiding in an abandoned diamond mine--but one of their fellows is actually a traitor who has betrayed the hiding place to the guards, and in the darkness only Erro's superior nose can help the boys find their way out of this trap.

The canyon of giants

Blinded by heavy mist, a misstep causes Erro to plunge into a deep canyon where he is caught by one of the giants who is imprisoned there while Zak is plucked off the cliff ledge by a different giant--but the giants are not friendly, and while they are discussing whether to give the boys to the Alcatraz guards or turn them into lunch, Zak comes up with a way to escape either fate.

Arena of monsters

Zak has been captured and sent to Planet Alcatraz's "Monster Zoo" where the inmates are forced to fight for the entertainment of the Overseers--but Erro is still free and he is determined to use all his Quom survival skills to rescue his human friend.

Voyage to the metal moon

After stowing away on a spacecraft, Zak and his alien friend, Erro, did not expect to end up on the prison planet called Alcatraz, but here they are; their latest plan to escape involves stowing away on another spacecraft--unfortunately this one is only going to Alcatraz's nearby metallic moon, a prison just as deadly as Alcatraz itself.

The pit of no return

Caught by the guards, Zak and his alien friend, Erro, are taken to the Pit, one of prison Planet Alcatraz's most escape-proof features, where every movement causes the Pit to descend deeper--and somehow the two teenagers will have to figure out a way to climb the walls and escape.

The crushing crystals

Teenagers Zak and his alien friend, Erro, are trying to make it across the Plateau of Leng before the rising sun reveals them to the robot guards of Planet Alcatraz, but suddenly mountain-sized crystals start rising through the desert sands, threatening to trap them in a circle with a giant scorpion--and the boys must figure out how to escape this series of hazards.

Prisoners of the poison sea

Captured by the sadistic guards of the prison planet Alcatraz, the two teenage friends, Zak, and the alien Erro, are placed in bottomless cages hovering over a sea of poison acid and if they fall asleep or lose their grip they will fall to their deaths--and Zak will need all of his ingenuity if he is going to figure out a way to save himself and his friend.
