Filipino American siblings JJ and Althea struggle to belong in school and clash over the best way to be accepted. They both agree that working long hours at their family's food truck, listening to their mother's stories about Filipino folklore, doesn't seem to help their situation. However, when the creatures from their mother's tales suddenly appear and threaten their family's livelihood, the two must band together and embrace who they are if they are to save their family.
