Presents five chronologies--divided into six subject areas--that trace the history of achievement in science from 30,000 B.C. to 2000, features sixteen essays on topics such as the origins of mathematics, the discovery of X-rays, and the quest for Mars, and includes biographies of important scientists from every age and continent.
