Steel drumming at the Apollo

A photo-essay which follows a year in the lives of the seven members of the Hamilton Hill Steel Drum Band from Schenectady, New York, after they are recruited by talent scouts from the Apollo Theater in January 2005 to participate in a year-long series of competitions that lead them to a final contest for the title of Super Top Dog on Amateur Night at the famous Harlem theater.
