Presents an account of the 1979 Crenshaw High Cougars, an inner-city Los Angeles baseball team that included Darryl Strawberry, Chris Brown, and other talented players who went on to the big leagues, and considers whether these young men, and others like them, are really better off because of their experiences in professional sports.
