The desert of souls

In ninth-century Baghdad, the scholar Dabir must unlock the secrets of a mysterious jewel-encrusted tablet that someone is determined to steal, and when he learns the tablet may hold the truth about the lost city of Ubar, Dabir fears he may be a killer's next victim.
