The brother from another planet

A mute extraterrestrial who resembles an African-American flees slavery on a distant planet and crash lands in New York City. While trying to avoid capture by the alien bounty hunters, he makes new friends among the earthling residents of Harlem with his gentle manner and telepathic abilities, and uses his super-powers help to bring down a drug lord.
