In the summer of 1998, Jenny Bowen watched as her three-year-old daughter, Maya, adopted from China, continued to transform from a vacant-eyed sickly girl to a joyous girl thriving in an environment where she knew she was loved. In that moment, Jenny knew she wanted to help all the children who had not been adopted and founded Half the Sky Foundation which works with the Chinese government to bring a caring adult into the life of every orphaned child.
