In the summer of 1996, NASA scientists made an outstanding announcement. A meteorite in storage for years at the Smithsonian Institution had finally been indentified as a piece of Martian rock. The secrets the meteorite held inside it were even more astonishing. Within its gritty crevices was evidence of a primitive life form. Life on Mars? If true, it marks a turning point in human history.
