Cumberland Island, off the coast of Georgia, is the country's largest and most biologically diverse island. It's celebrated for its windswept dunes, feral horses, and the sea turtles, who come to the island to lay their eggs. Carol Ruckdeschel is a fierce defender of the island. In recent years, the Carnegie heirs and the National Park Service have clashed with Carol over the island's future.
