Look at you now

my journey from shame to strength

In 1979, Liz Pryor, a seventeen-year-old girl from a privileged family in the Chicago suburbs, discovers she is pregnant. Her parents are horrified and determined that none of her friends, siblings, or community ever know about it. They drive her three states away and force her into residency in a government-run facility for delinquent and impoverished pregnant teenage girls. A fish-out-of-water, Liz is forced to question everything she thought she knew about life, and comes out of the experience a changed woman.
