Documents the history and achievements of African Americans during the latter half of the twentieth century. Profiles the contributions of Black men and women who worked for civil rights and racial equality. Also highlights the influence and success of such individuals as Ralph Bunche, Gwendolyn Brooks, Althea Gibson, Thurgood Marshall, and Colin Powell.
