Marijuana Risks

According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 4.4 million people age twelve or older meet the diagnostic criteria cannabis use disorder, a figure that corresponds to 1.6 percent of the US population. Cannabis use disorder is not the only risk associated with marijuana use. Marijuana users also have a higher incidence of memory impairment, anxiety disorders, social development problems, psychosis, and suicide than the non-using population does. In addition, smoke from the drug can have a harmful effect on the respiratory system.
