After their classmates' expulsion from Totsuki, Soma, Takumi, and Megumi challenge Sentral to a team shokugeki, hoping to get their classmates' expulsion overturned. The showdown is on Rebun Island, the place where the final stage of the advancement exams is set to be held.

Soma and the other members of the resistance must defeat a Council of Ten member in order to move past the third stage of the advancement exam. And before all is said and done, Dean Azami's true motivations are revealed.

Stage three of the advancement exams begin and Soma goes up against none other than Akira Hayama, who once beat him in the Fall Classic.

Soma is vying for the first seat on the Council of Ten which is currently held by Tsukasa. But to get it, he'll have to outdo Tsukasa's refined techniques with his own creative take on French cuisine.

Ryo Kurokiba battles as Alice's champion to keep her society from being abolished by the Azami administration, beginning a shokugeki with Cenral elite Kusunoki. The theme is salmon, and both chefs must employ all their skill to compete.

With the judges strongly influenced by his opponent, Soma remains determined to save the Polaris dormitory. And as Central works toward eliminating anyone who resists, Soma's future is more unclear than ever.

Since the new dean Azami Nakiri took over at Totsuki Institute, Erina has been kept under lock and key by her father. However, she is freed by her daring cousin Alice and now is hiding out at the Polaris Dorm. Meanwhile, Soma has to think up a dish to win his latest contest.

Day three of the Autumn Moon Festival sees Soma still recouping from ending in the red on his first day. He still hopes to overtake Restaurant Kuga in overall profit, and then he reveals his secret ace in the hole--a mapo tofu recipe.

When Soma finally meets the the Totsuki Institute's reigning Council of Ten, he challenges all of them to a shokugeki. However, the Council don't consider Soma and his first-year friends a threat, forcing Soma to think of some scheme to get their attention at the upcoming school festival.
