Marnie is forced into a leadership roll on her competitive cheerleading team, but it's harder than she imagined to keep the Soar Starlings--and herself--aloft.

Fifteen-year-old Stevie Calhoun, the daughter of a drug addict who has agreed to go with her aunt Mindy after another one of her mom's disappearances, is confident her mom will return, and wonders if she cares about her friend Alan, school, or anything else that has to do with the life of a normal teenager.

Sixteen-year-old Marnie is thrilled when she is asked to be a flyer for her competitive cheerleading team, but as she tries to prepare for the provincial championship and fit in with the other cheerleaders, Marnie's personal life begins to fall apart.
