Fourteen-year-old orphan Eugenie de Boncoeur, rich and spoiled, ignores the violence of the French Revolution that's all around her until her brother is sent away and she is promised in marriage to the vengeful assassin, Le Fantome. Now she must rely on her brains to get herself out of France and away from Le Fantome if she wants to survive.
