A legendary but futile romance between Tristian and Iseul. During the journey to her marriage to another, they drink a love potion meant for her and the groom. They marry other people but continue to love each other. Tristian becomes ill; the only one who can save him is Iseult. They come up with a code that will let Tristian know if she is coming. Tristian's wife has someone tell him the wrong code and he dies. Iseult comes to Tristian after his death; she dies as well.
