A. Square, a resident of Flatland--a place limited to two dimensions and peopled by a hierarchy of geometrical forms--stirs up trouble when he is visited by a sphere and begins to speak openly about worlds with three and four dimensions.

A. Square is born into a place which is limited to two dimensions which is flat and peopled by a hierarchy of geometrical forms. He visits Lineland and Pointland, worlds of one, and no dimension, but when he speaks openly of worlds with three and four dimension, tragedy strikes.
