Homer and Langley Collyer, two brothers, live as hermits after Langley returns from WWI, and as Homer goes blind, the two hoard newspapers and try to create meaning for themselves amid a series of visits from outsiders such as immigrants, prostitutes, government agents, and jazz musicians.
