Hideki's computer, the persocom Chi, has been kidnapped. Chi is not an ordinary computer because she is a Chobit, able to learn so much she almost seems human. Now that she's gone, Hideki wonders if a persocom's memories, stored on a hard drive, can be erased. Chi has proven that she can be dangerous, despite her innocent exterior. Since Hideki found his computer, Chi, she has become an important part of his life. Computers can function as workers, friends, and even be in a relationship. Hideki has helped her to learn to go shopping, do basic chores, and even get a job in a bakery. But there's a good chance that Chi is a Chobit, a computer so rare that if one was found some collectors would resort to any means to get their hands on one---even kidnapping. Hideki is afraid that word of Chi has leaked out and he may loose her.

That's why she acts so human. The more time they spend together the more it feels like a relationship and that could be a problem.
