Al Jeery, a loyal member of the Cardinal's personal guard, is pulled from his duties at Party Central to investigate a murder mystery that draws in the dead, the City's Incan forefathers, the imposing figure of the Cardinal, and the near-mythical assassin Paucar Wami, who can kill anyone without fear of retribution.

After ten years of ruling over the City, Cardinal Capac Raimi disappears and his trusted lieutenant, Ford Tasso, convinces Al Jeery--who has taken on the guise of an assassin--to battle the Incan priests suspected of taking the Cardinal and recover their lost ruler.

The young and ambitious Capac Raimi arrives in the City where he encounters many exotic and mysterious dangers. Capac's life is changed forever when he meets the powerful Cardinal, and when he discovers the extent of the Cardinal's influence on his own life, the young man is forced to make some difficult decisions.
