Eleven-year-old Jason Adrian is spared a boring summer at his grandmother's house when his English teacher announces he has won the opportunity to attend Camp Ravenwyng, a haven for creative and imaginative youth, but he arrives to discover the camp is really a training ground for new magicians who are needed to carry on the battle against the Dark Hand of Brennard.
