When their local hockey league decides to merge the town's two rival teams, the Helmets and the Gloves, for a major tournament in Vancouver, the players fight more with their new teammates than with their opponents until a new boy joins.

Two British Columbia rival teams are merged into one, and the players must learn to work together.

When forest fires in British Columbia cause mass destruction, Chris, a cross-country runner, doesn't see why he has to participate in the charity run to help refugees from the fire. Then Chris becomes friends with Jason, a Native American kid whose family has been displaced by the fire. When Chris's dad takes special interest in helping Jason and his family, Chris wonders about his father's own emigration as a young man, and starts to think about what it means to be a refugee and to have to actually run for your life.

Gavin's first year of high school means leaving behind his championship winning soccer team for the worst team in the city.

When Vicky moves across the city to a new neighborhood with her mom, she must leave her old school, friends and soccer team behind. As she tries to become part of her former rivals' team, Vicky struggles to maintain loyalty to her old friends.

When their new school does not have a soccer team, high schooler Gavin and his friends must figure out a way to keep playing soccer.

Adam, a star hockey player, moves to the city with his family and finds himself not fitting in, until a new friend introduces him to soccer, but Adam's father does not approve of the game.
