In an attempt to save the magical world known as the Land from the evil forces of Lord Foul the Despiser, Thomas Covenant realizes that he must meet Foul alone in combat.

Ten years have passed since the death of the Covenant, but his companion Linden Avery comes home one day to find her son building images of the Land with blocks, unaware that in the Land, evil is unmaking the very laws of nature.

Having pursued separate goals in support of loved ones in the magical reality known only as "The Land," Thomas Covenant and Linden Avery reunite and discover their true power in each other before considering a magical sacrifice to stop the Worm of the World's End.

Linden Avery returns to the Land hoping to find her kidnapped son, Jeremiah, who has been healed of a mental condition that left him mute and unresponsive for years, and finds he has joined forces with Thomas Covenant, the man Linden loved and believed was dead, but the Covenant Jeremiah has befriended is somehow different from the one Linden remembers, causing her to wonder if there is something more sinister at hand than she imagined.

Linden has managed to free Thomas Covenant's spirit from the Arch of Time and restore his slain body, but the power unleased in attempts to bring him back to life has awakened the Worm of the World's End, and the entire world, including the Land itself, are in danger of destruction if they cannot figure out a way to stop it.
