Tom Cruickshank is invited to a weekend of golf with his boss and co-workers. He manages to single-handedly cost the team the championship. With thoughts of unemployment dancing in his head Tom enlists the help of a mysterious gentleman named Harry Brady. Harry meets Tom at dawn and leads him to a distant forest clearing. Suddenly the fog lifts to reveal Mount Agustus - The Country Club of the Gods. With Harry as his guide, Tom begins to play the most beautiful, demanding course in the universe. Along the way, his virtue is tested by the capricious immortals who control every aspect of the game. He fights a battle royal with Fergus, the goat-riding God of Greenskeepers; matches wits with Divot, the God of Bad Lies; and falls in love with the beautiful Glenda, Goddess of Golf, who teaches him that there is much to be gained by straying from the safety of the fairways. But only Harry knows how much is riding on Toms game......
