Philip Caputo describes his experiences as part of a photography and research safari mounted to unlock the secrets of the man-eating lions of the Tsavo area of East Africa, a region known for its abnormally large, maneless lions with a taste for human prey.
Follows a herd of elephants, including a playful young calf, as it slowly makes its way in Tsavo National Park in Kenya to the Mzima River during a long, dry season.
