The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya / Tanigawa, Nagaru

Under the watchful eye of editor Haruhi, the SOS Brigade finally starts writing, having just one week to create a literature newsletter to save the Lit Club's space from being reallocated by the student council.

Still confused by the missing Haruhi and the SOS Brigade, Kyon travels back in time to see the elder Asahina, who offers no explanation but prepares a program that will repair the rift in the timeline--if Kyon chooses to use it.

Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself to Kyon and convinces him to join her club to find paranormal beings; but Kyon soon discovers that Haruhi has the power to destroy and create entire universes.

Haruhi continues to work on the school festival film project, wishing she could bring her script to life.

The SOS Brigade is forced to join a baseball tournament by their fearless leader, who has no intention of losing and will stop at nothing to get her team to step up to the plate.

Haruhi plans to fill the remaining month of summer vacation with as much fun as possible for the SOS Brigade, but Kyon senses that something is very wrong.

On the first day at a Japanese high school, an impressible girl announces her lack of interest in "ordinary humans" and proceeds to form a club dedicated to finding aliens, time travelers, and other forms of supernatural life, with the intention of having fun with them. Kyon investigate's Sasaki's efforts to enclose North High in a closed space, and encounters a girl he's never seen before in her place.
