Mary Shelley found the inspiration for Frankenstein while staying on the shores of Lake Geneva with Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and other friends, when Byron suggested they hold a ghost story competition. She was just eighteen at the time. It was published in 1818 and went on to become one of the best-known Gothic horror stories of all time. It is brought to life in this graphic adaptation by Pete Katz's illustrations.
