Following the unexpected death of her father, Layken is forced to be strong for her mother and brother. Outwardly she appears to be doing fine, inwardly she is losing hope. When she moves across the country she meets an attractive twenty-one-year-old neighbor and within days of their introduction they form an intense connection, giving Layken a renewed sense of hope.
