In San Francisco on a field trip, James "Gum" Shoo and his friends get caught up in a wave of pickpocketing.

Edward G. Garrison, who is known as Egg, goes on a Science Club field trip to the zoo, and when everybody arrives, they discover that the Island Foxes, an endangered species, has been stolen, which leads Egg and his friends to try finding the missing animals.

James "Gum" Shoo goes to the museum with his art class, and while everybody has been learning about forged art, they are surprised to find a fake in the gallery, and James and his friends attempt to solve the mystery.
